Hello
I am using WEAP model to calibrate streamflow data in a mountain catchment ( using Rainfall Runoff - soil moisture method). Snow accumulation and snowmelt are very important. My question is about sublimation from snowpack, is it considered by WEAP model? or how could it be incorporated in the model?
In advance thanks for the help.

Hi Maria,
The Snow accumulation model accounts for albedo when it comes to snow melt. Can sublimation be modeled or approximated as part of the melting process of snow and the subsequent evaporation of water?

Hi Stephanie,
According to the manual, the albedo is only used when the time step is smaller than the month. Is this so? Could you explain how is the albedo used? There are no details about it in the manual.
Thanks

WEAP calculates albedo as a broken linear function of snow depth and timestep length. For example, in a monthly model, NumDays = 30 (+/-), so the values in the first column below are 0 mm, 30 mm, 150 mm and 300 mm. (In this way, a monthly model needs a much deeper snowpack to hit the max albedo, which accounts for snow getting older or melting during the month.) Anything over the last value gets the maximum albedo (0.25). The user is able to change what the min and max albedo are, but if left blank they will default to 0.15 and 0.25.
