Dear all,
I am wondering if before modelling a catchment water demand is it an obligation to run an hydrological model (SWAT, WASIM etc...). In another way, does WEAP Model alone can perform hydrological(taking into account climate change and variability as well as land use and land cover change) simulation and water management. Do I necessary need to perform an hydrological modelling before running a WEAP model of a catchment.

Dear Salomon,

The WEAP model has a few different hydrological models built into the catchments. These models can use climate data (such as precipitation, temperature) to calculate how much river flow will be generated, or groundwater recharged. I recommend reviewing the Hydrology chapter in the WEAP tutorial, available www.WEAP21.org/tutorial.
