Hi,
I want to represent an inter-basin water transfer that is mainly used for hydropower production. Therefore, I want the transferred flows to be driven by a run-of-river hydropower plant. I do not have any demands in the basin receiving the water transfer, as I am not modelling it.
If I use a diversion, WEAP does not divert water to satisfy the energy demand; why is that? Should I use a transmission link instead? I understand that the concept of a run-of-river plant is to use the water that is flowing in a river/canal for other purposes, but in reality there are diversions that are defined for hydropower generation.
Thanks!

Dear Andrea,
Have you tried putting a Flow Requirement on your Diversion that feeds the Run-of-River plant? This is one way to ensure that the plant's requirements are met. The Minimum Flow Requirement you enter for the Flow Requirement can be an equation (use Expression Builder) based on how much water is needed to produce the required amount of energy.
Hope this helps,
Anne
