Subject: Utilisation of own data to delineate catchment(s)

Dear WEAP team,

while the current 'automatic catchment delineation' tool in WEAP is very handy, we would like to utilise our own, higher resolution DEM data (higher than the HydroSHEDS data used in WEAP at present) to delineate the catchment(s) that we would like to study.

Our question is: Can we import our own DEM data and delineate the catchments we are interested in based on those (higher resolution) data, or can we delineate the catchments outside of WEAP and then import the resulting files and use them for further analysis (we understand that this was in fact the procedure up until recently)?

It would be super if you could help with this matter.

Thank you very much.
Kind regards,
Markus

Dear Markus,

At this time, only the 3s and 15s HydroSHEDS DEM can be used with WEAP's automatic catchment delineation. As before, you are free to delineate the catchments outside of WEAP and load the catchment shapefile as a background layer. In this case, you would need to do the land use and elevation disaggregation yourself.

Best regards,
Jack
