How can I set a flow constrain from a reservoir? My area is a brazilian semiarid region and, due to water scarcity, the water flow from reservoir is regulated. Although river flow fluctuates widely, hydropower generation is almost constant.

I tried to set the max. turbine flow, but it did not change the energy generation. Any recomendation?

Dear Erica,
The Max Turbine Flow does not restrict how much water can flow through the dam, but rather the maximum capacity of the turbine to generate power. Any flow greater than the maxiumum turbine flow will not produce additional power.
You can restrict flow leaving your reservoir by changing the Top of Buffer and Buffer Coefficient parameters in the Operation group (when looking at your reservoir parameters in the Data view).For a diagram and more thorouth explanation of these parameters, search the WEAP help for Reservoir Zones. The Buffer Coefficient is the fraction of water in the Buffer Zone that WEAP is permitted to release. If you need the buffer coefficient to be dependent on some other parameter, you can use the Expression Builder (Examples of using the Expression Builder are available in the Basic Tools chapter of the WEAP Tutorial, linked at left).

You can also use the reservoirs "Maximum Hydraulic Outflow" data variable to limit the outflow from a reservoir.
