Dear weap users,
I hope everything is going well on your side.

In the model integration part on the home page, it is indicated that dynamic links to other models and software, such as QUAL2K, MODFLOW, MODPATH, PEST, Excel, and GAMS exist. When I check advanced, I do not find a link to GAMS.

I think that I should create an external link by phyton scripts programming using WEAP's script editor to link the external GAMS optimization model to WEAP.

Can someone please help me and tell me more about how to link GAMS to WEAP ? and is there any other mathematical model that can replace GAMS?

Thank you
Regards
Soumaya

Dear Soumaya,

WEAP can be linked to GAMS. However, this linkage is not automated, so you will have to create scripts in order to pass data between the two models.

Here is a link to a set of python scripts that make this linkage. They were created for a specific model, so will need to be adapted to your situation. I hope that they are helpful.

This presentation may also clarify a few things about how the python scripts make the linkage between WEAP and GAMS

Dear Mr.Brain,
Thank you for answering my question.
I would like to know please if there is any free modeling system for mathematical optimization that can replace GAMS?
Bests
