Workshop Description: Introduction and application of WEAP to quantify current and future water supply and demand conditions of a region under different scenarios of population growth, urbanization, economic factors, water quality, pollution and climate change. Using an integrated approach for long term planning, a series of alternatives are evaluated, ranging from water supply augmentation (dams, reservoirs, hydropower) and/or demand reduction (water conservation) to pollution control (treatment plants) in order to minimize future water demand and shortages.
