Subject: Climatic data in a catchment Posted: 12/18/2015 Viewed: 15016 times
Hello WEAP users
I have a question related to meteorological factors in a catchment.
In a catchment has 6 meteorological stations.
I used Soil Moisture Method, so I need to input precipitation, temperature, wind speed, and humidity.
If I want to calculate average precipitation, I use Thessien pologon method.
How about temperature, wind speed and humidity. Are there any methods to calculate average value?
Thanks all.

Often when we set up our catchments, we demarcate them by both river basin and elevation. That way, we can create a relationship between temperature and elevation - for our Colombia model we used an equation -0.56°C for each 100 m.
For windspeed and humidity, it may depend specifically on the characteristics of your system, so I am not sure what to recommend. Whatever you choose, be sure to be very clear about it in all your reporting.

Thank you Stephanie
In my case, If I used Rainfall Runoff Model (Simplified Coefficinet Method), I have to input ETo in whole catchment.
I have three meteorological stations, so I have to calculate ETo for each station and calculate average value ETo in whole catchment, right?
Are there any official method to calculate average ETo in whole catchment like Thiessen polygon for calculating average precipitation?
