Dear WEAP User,
In the Agriculture Catchment (soil moisture model), when we have different irrigation systems (eg sprinkler, drip and gravity) for the same Crop, how we should define it in the model?

Best regards,

Dear Jamal,

To specify different water irrigation systems, I would make different catchment subdivisions for each irrigation system, much the same way you make subdivisions such as forest and grassland. For example, the subdivisions could be Forest, Grassland, Rice_Sprinkler, Rice_Drip, etc. You would have to know the area for all of them.

Then in the irrigation tab, you could change the upper and lower threshold to roughly reflect the differences in water requirements for the different technologies. It's not a perfect fix, but it will be able to approximate the system.
