I have a question. I am interested in using WEAP for sustainable management of groundwater for an area that relies 100% only on groundwater for all its needs(domestic, agriculture and industry). I would like to try different scenarios using different interventions for managing the supply side and demand side. I am interested only on meeting water demand and hence not considering quality aspect (loading of different pollutants for this one). How applicable WEAP is for this situation? Are there any limitations? Also, I am not focusing on groundwater dynamics. However I know the storage of the aquifers from previous studies.

Hi Usitha,
WEAP can perform a water balance based on the supply and demand information that you enter into the model, which you can vary for different scenarios. I recommend downloading the WEAP tutorial (www.WEAP21.org/tutorial) and reading through the Refining the Supply module (specifically the section about groundwater) and perhaps also the Scenarios module.
