Subject: Head Loss in Hydro Power Posted: 7/16/2019 Viewed: 7632 times
I am doing a power potential study in storage reservoir in WEAP. In actual case, there is a wide variation of head loss (10m to 24m) in Water Conductor System with a gross head of around 115m. Head loss variation is dependent on turbine flow. In WEAP, one can add head loss in Tail Water Level to get net head. However, head loss calculation can't be done considering actual turbine flow of the current time step. Turbine flow of previous time step can only be referred to in the calculation. Basic issue is capability of handling cyclic variable. Turbine flow dictates head loss and therefore, Tail Water Level and net head. And turbine flow is again dependent on net head.
I might miss some aspects or capability of WEAP. With resolution of the issue, WEAP shall be extremely useful for power potential study of storage reservoir.
Kindly guide me.
